Is the boardroom ready for cigars and ice-cream?
According to Variety, NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice is saying goodbye to Donald Trump, and hi to Arnold Schwarzenegger!
Today, NBC announced Arnold will helm the show for the 2016-2017 season!
Due to Donald Trump’s decision to run for the GOP nomination for President, he can no longer host the program for NBC. If he did, the network would have to make equal time to other candidates un the Federal Communications Commission equal time rule. No, The Donald isn’t fired, and his Presidential campaign needs his full attention.
Schwarzenegger’s acting, entrepreneurial and political background could very well make for a ratings trifecta for NBC.
Variety also reports Paul Telegdy, NBC’s President of Alternative and Late-Night Programming says, “Arnold Schwarzenegger is the epitome of a global brand in entertainment and business, and his accomplishments in the political arena speak for themselves.” Telegdy added, “It was Arnold’s personal passion for the format that Mark Burnett (Executive Producer) and Donald Trump built over the last decade, as well as his fresh take on how to take it to new heights for today’s audiences, that made him the man to hire. ‘The Celebrity Apprentice’ … will be back!”
Arnold will helm the show for the 2016-17 TV season, which gives him plenty of time to redecorate the set Arnold-style, install a soft ice-cream maker (he loves the stuff:) and come up with some new catch phrases for the show.
Hope he still makes time for Twins II with Danny DeVito!
